Can I replace my built-in tub with a freestanding tub?
Yes, but it requires significant plumbing modifications. The drain must be relocated to the center of the floor, and supply lines must be moved to accommodate a floor-mounted or wall-mounted filler. We can handle all of these adjustments.
How long does a standard bathtub installation take?
If the plumbing layout remains the same, a standard alcove tub installation can be completed in 1 to 2 days. If tile work or plumbing relocation is required, it will take several days longer.
Do I need to reinforce my floor for a soaking tub?
Standard acrylic fiberglass tubs usually don’t require extra support. However, large freestanding stone resin, cast iron tubs, or deep soaking tubs hold a massive amount of water weight and often require floor joist reinforcement, which we evaluate beforehand.
What is a mortar bed, and why is it used?
Many acrylic and fiberglass tubs require a bed of mortar underneath the base during installation. This prevents the tub floor from flexing when you step in, which prevents cracking and makes the tub feel incredibly solid.
Can you install the tile surround at the same time?
